AI doesn't think, it only recognizes patterns, and that's exactly why I'm writing a book to guide students toward ethical, intentional use of it. A colleague mentioned a concern to me last week: will AI is replace how our students think? I get the worry, but the question misses something important. AI doesn't "think." It recognizes patterns and structures in the data that it trained on, and then predicts what comes next. Word-by-word. That's the whole mechanism. Once you unde
